Dog Grooming Noosa – Barbara Elliott
My family often remind me how as a child I would always be bringing home stray dogs.
From that early age I have loved dogs and they like me.They are special.
When I was young the family had a corgi. My memories of that time was getting up early, sitting on the back steps of the house and watching the sun rise with our dog Chips. Later on as a teenager I would sit on those steps and introduce Chips to my favourite songs on the radio and often sang them to him.
As an adult I was in the corporate health industry but I really wanted to work with dogs.
One day I thought grooming would be fun. It would meet my need to be with dogs and to be creative. So I contacted the local vet who recommended a groomer. I phoned her and she agreed to me serving an apprenticeship. Her experience included 20 years travelling the United States preparing and showing poodles in dog shows.
During the apprenticeship I gained sufficient confidence to try on my own. I put a notice in the local vet surgery calling for doggie models, put a sandwich board outside my house and the business was born.
That was for 12 years ago.
2.5 years ago the opportunity to buy a salon came my way and I snapped it up. I had had my eye on this salon for a while. When I took my dogs for walks I would ask other dog owners where they got their dog groomed and nearly all of them said Dog Grooming Noosa. I was attending a dog grooming conference and someone told me Dog Grooming Noosa. was up for sale.
I started out from home based business and took it to a salon.
Dogs have a right to be well cared for, respected and loved. It’s our job to do that because they can’t do it for themselves.
We believe that dogs are very special. They provide us with a lot of love and fun. In return we want dogs to know that they are special. Each is unique, each has it’s own little, and sometimes big, personality. We want them to know that they are welcome. To be free of fear, to be healthy and happy that they are loved.
It’s a mutual relationship between man and dog. They rely on us for comfort, peace, security, food and companionship. We domesticated them so we can enjoy them, have them work for us, in some situations, and so, it is our responsible to take care of all their needs in the best possible circumstances.
Having strangers handling them in a new environment was never meant to be part of the deal but in a very short time, sometimes, even before they get to the grooming section, the dog feels it is with friends.
This is because dogs are smart. We are the friend they haven’t met yet.
